So, listen up, those of you who still have all your lady parts and are going through menopause. First, a confession...I don't know anyone in my circle of friends and family who are my age and still have all their lady parts! Have hysterectomies become an elective surgery?! Seriously, what's up with that? I feel like a unicorn. A nauseated, feels like crap, sometimes vomits unicorn.
Recently, my menopausal brain fog lifted long enough for me to put two and two together. About once or twice a month since last October, or thereabouts, I get what feels like extreme morning sickness that lasts all day. Naturally, after having this epiphany, I consulted the oracle...is nausea a symptom of menopause? Turns out, just like during pregnancy, reduced levels of progesterone can trigger "the unsettled feelings of queasiness," ergo, morning sickness, or in my case, all day sickness. Sadly, Chipotle is forever ruined for me after I launched up half of a burrito bowl not too long ago.
So, basically you can see that I am in hell. Every day, of my life, I'm dealing with one, or all of Mother Nature's cruel affliction: nausea, extreme exhaustion, crippling depression, hot flashes, migraines, dizziness, anxiety, forgetfulness, oh, and blurred vision. Yeah, you heard me. Blurred vision. "As we age, we can expect to experience some age-related vision loss, but we may not realize that hormones are a primary cause of diminishing eye sight." Really?! This is insult to my astigmatism injury, or maybe it's diabetes, who knows.
As previously mentioned, I'm on this journey without hormone replacement therapy (HRT) because...cancer, stroke, dementia, no thanks. I do feel like I'm on this journey alone. I've not had one iota of input from anyone. I hope someone out there can relate, or at the very least, gets a chuckle from my misery. Onward.
Peace
