Oh the joys of a Southern summer: air temps in the mid 90's, heat indices in the triple digits, an auto air conditioner that doesn't work and mother menopause burning me up from the inside out. I spend about 98% of the day sweating. Soaking through my clothes is a bonus offshoot that I liken to having to peel off a wet one-piece bathing suit in a public beach bathroom stall, or better yet, tying to pull it back up. I am convinced that the sun is actually hotter than it used to be. Maybe it's just me getting older, but whenever I'm subjected to direct sunlight, Vampires turning to ash always comes to mind. We are ants under a microscope, and I am in hell.
(thank you #americalastdays for the gif)
Under-boob sweat is a daily nuisance (reason #82 why I wish I'd never gotten a boob job), and my pits smell like a pubescent onion patch that no amount of body wash and deodorant can completely cover. After consulting with The Oracle, changes in odor, are in fact a by-product of menopause. Isn't that delightful? Taking more than one shower a day only aggravates crocodile skin, so I'm a melty, frizzy, odoriferous mess most days, but I still refuse HRT. I will persevere!
It sucks, all these bodily reconstructions, it really does! My mien is that of gutted fixer-upper. It's all good though. At least I still have my sense of humor (insert eye roll)! I am a woman, and this is Mother Nature's way. I have to feel like this until I don't anymore, but on the other side, I will have earned my merit badge for surviving the change! A walk in the park compared to year, after year, after year of deep south summers!
Peace
